Individual Therapy
As a as a licensed therapist, I can help you recognize and use your strengths to solve problems and enhance interpersonal relationships. My style is a combination of listening, teaching, interpretation, and experiential techniques that facilitate, insight, and growth and change.
I specialize in working with under motivated teens with challenging behaviors. I have experience working with schools, courts, Department of Social Services and local agencies, to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for high risk teenagers.

Group Therapy
Kicking Addiction Now
Yes I K.A.N. stop negative, addictive behaviors. K.A.N. groups are supportive, safe meetings designed for women to explore their addictive patterns and learn healthy alternatives. Each group is comprised of 6 – 8 women in a similar stage of addiction, who develop a supportive, confidential network that enables them to overcome addictions. Two trained, licensed therapist facilitate the group.

Choices & Challenges
It is well documented that peers are the forum of choice for teens. The Choices and Challenges group recognizes this and encourages youth to explore who and why they are in a safe supportive environment. Choices and Challenges is a comprehensive adolescent group that uses developmental psychology to help youth understand the changes and resulting challenges they are facing. Moreover, youth are given updated, realistic information that will enable them to make an informed choice. All of this is done in the confines of a supportive, confidential group that meets once a week for 1.5 hours.

Family Group Therapy
Parenting is always a challenging task. When your child is having problems getting along with other children or behaving at home or at school, the challenge is even bigger. Compass Rose Counseling offers group therapy for children and their parents, designed to help children and parents learn new skills for better social functioning, and to help parents learn how to most effectively manage their children’s behavior. Special programs are offered for parents and the oppositional teen. Groups meet once a week for 2 hours and include a pizza and light refreshments. Groups meets as a whole for 1/2 hour over pizza, discuss joint issues then parents and youth meet separately to discuss the day’s topic.

Adventure Therapy
Adventure Therapy is a process through which a client gains knowledge, skill and value from direct experiences. Processing after each activity is used to heighten the clients’ awareness of current behaviors and provides a forum to adopt and practice new behaviors. Learning to let go, laugh and connect to the creative self are all part of the process. Families and adolescents are two populations that thrive within the framework of Adventure Therapy. Adolescents love the challenge and families value the multi-age appeal of each activity.
Ongoing Adventure Groups, Adventure Family Therapy and one time Family Adventure Days are offered.

Family Therapy
Has the F.U.N. (family understanding needs) gone out of your family? Often when our basic needs are not met the result is anger and conflict. Is laughter and joy non existent. With hard work, weekly homework and commitment to change members can begin to understand each other, recognize the needs of individuals and learn to respect each other. I utilize adventure, cognitive restructuring and education to foster insight, promote growth and create a positive change.
